Our client is a large insurance company seeking to recruit a Financial Controller and Operations Manager. Role: This is a rare opportunity to head up the finance and operations functions of a recently incorporated reinsurance company. Key responsibilities will include: Managing a team of professionals ensuring all aspects of; Finance, company secretarial and operational functions. ? Management of a team of five accountants responsible for accounting and reporting activity involving regular interaction with various stakeholders. ? Final review of management accounts and year-end financial statements (IFRS). ? Provide technical training to the team on accounting treatments for complex derivatives and hedge accounting. ? Company Secretarial - attendance at regular Board and Committee meetings to present accounting, investment, operational and other matters. ? Organisation of team priorities, group communications, team meetings and liaising with other colleagues in other company?s offices. ? Dealing with a rating agency ? Liaising with colleagues in the underwriting, claims and actuarial teams and supporting the Directors to make this business a success. The successful candidate will have: ? A flair for numbers and ACCA/ACA or equivalent accountancy qualification with a minimum of 3 years? post qualification experience in an accountancy or financial environment. ? 7 years? experience in the finance industry. ? Preferably a candidate with either experience at one of the Big Four or reinsurance experience. ? Strong knowledge of IFRS reporting and a background in audit would be an advantage. ? Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel in addition to exposure to at least one accounting software package.
