Contract Experienced Accountant Guernsey
Job DescriptionOur client is a private bank and fiduciary services company seeking to recruit an Experienced Accountant. This is a contract role for 6 months. Key responsibilities will include: • Production of group reporting and local regulatory returns for Branch and subsidiaries under Basel II and III frameworks. • Production of local Executive board packs for all Guernsey-registered entities, including qualitative commentaries as well as production of financial data. • Accounting for material issuances of covered bonds, contingent convertibles and other Treasury-driven capital instruments under a variety of accounting treatments. • Reporting a portfolio of structured investment products. This includes reporting on the nominal value of shares, net asset value valuations, own bonds assessment for at group level disclosure of cash flows and fair value levelling. • Working with other members of the accounting team, in conjunction with IT, to develop the automation of financial and regulatory reporting within a customised general ledger system. • Provide cover for other team members and other ad-hoc tasks and development that are required within the role. A typical example may include production of the daily P&L. The successful candidate will have: • Minimum of 3 years’ previous experience within financial services, preferably within the banking sector. • Recently qualified ACA, ACCA or equivalent. • Strong technical accounting skills: Advanced Excel and proven problem-solving skills. • Ability to learn quickly and apply knowledge and experience to a diverse range of financial issues. • Proactive approach and evidence of ability to self-learn: • Strong awareness of governance and controls, including active implementation of best practice financial reporting risk mitigation. • Strong team player, working closely with a variety of stakeholders, including Treasury, Product Control, Operations and Group Consolidation across multiple international locations.
